Specialized Care for co-occurring Diabetes and Eating Disorders

Helping people manage their diabetes while healing their relationship with food.

Did you know…?

Studies show 30-40% of people with diabetes struggle with disordered eating.

Women with T1DM are 2.4x more likely to develop an eating disorder than their non-diabetic peers.

We’re a team of expert clinicians committed to helping people with diabetes feel confident and comfortable around food!

We take an individualized, weight-inclusive, trauma informed approach to support your recovery from diet culture and disordered eating… without losing sight of your diabetes goals.

We help our clients learn to care for their bodies, navigate life with diabetes, and discover a more peaceful relationship with food.

We offer both individual counseling and groups to support humans with all kinds of diabetes, and all forms of disordered patterns around food and diabetes care.

We Help People Get Better.

Disordered eating and diabetes can overlap in many ways.

We support people with all forms of diabetes including Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, Pre Diabetes/Insulin Resistance, Gestational Diabetes, LADA/Type 1.5 Diabetes, MODY, CFRD, and Type 3c Diabetes.

We support people navigating all forms of disordered eating including insulin omission, restrictive eating, food fears, binge eating, purging, compulsive exercise, chronic dieting, emotional eating, night eating, and more…

Conditions We Treat

  • We help people with all forms of diabetes heal from any eating disorder. This includes diabulimia, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, ARFID, OSFED, and more.

We understand how diabetes-specific behaviors (like carb counting, glucose monitoring, and medication dosing and side effects) can become intertwined with disordered patterns. Our approach supports medical safety while carefully untangling these behaviors, so diabetes care no longer fuels the eating disorder.

  • Many people with diabetes struggle with patterns that don’t always meet criteria for an eating disorder, but have a real impact on quality of life. This can look like skipping meals to avoid dosing insulin, rigid food rules to “keep numbers in range,” rebound overeating after lows, feeling stuck in cycles of overcorrecting blood sugars, and so much more.

We help you step out of these patterns and build a more flexible, consistent approach that supports both blood sugar stability and peace of mind.

  • We help people with all kinds of diabetes learn to better manage their condition through a weight-inclusive approach.

We recognizing how weight-focused care can unintentionally increase shame, disconnection from the body, and lead to disordered eating. We shift focus to evidence based interventions that stabilize blood sugars, improve quality of life, and support diabetes self care behaviors that are sustainable. This often means unlearning harmful messaging, and rebuilding trust in your body alongside your diabetes management.

  • A new diabetes diagnosis often comes with an overload of information (or no information at all) and pressure to “get it right” from day one.

We help you make sense of blood sugars, food, and medications without falling into fear-based or overly rigid patterns. From the beginning, we emphasize flexibility, realistic expectations, and a sustainable routine so diabetes care can fit into your life without taking it over.

  • There are several conditions that often exist alongside diabetes, like PCOS, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and liver, kidney, or cardiovascular concerns. We help you navigate these conditions without defaulting to restriction or other disordered patterns to manage.

Together, we create a plan that accounts for the full picture of your health; prioritizing stability, clarity, and long-term sustainability rather than short-term fixes and disordered habits.
