Amanda Ruiz, MS, RD, LD

Amanda believes everyone deserves a peaceful, healthy relationship with food and their body… including people with diabetes. Amanda takes a weight-inclusive approach to diabetes care, prioritizing overall well-being and quality of life over perfection.

When it comes to managing blood sugars, Amanda understands how unrealistic expectations can lead to shame and frustration. Amanda takes an approach that is compassionate, flexible, and grounded in the belief that effective diabetes management and eating disorder recovery can coexist, supporting a full and enjoyable life.

Experience and Education:

This work is deeply Amanda as someone living with Type 1 diabetes. She understand firsthand what it’s like to navigate food through a medical lens while living in a culture that overemphasizes "ideal" body size and diet rules. Amanda believes in challenging these values in order to prioritize health, well-being, and self-acceptance. Professionally, Amanda has experience providing eating disorder counseling at both the residential and outpatient levels of care.
