Join a supportive, interactive space for healthcare providers to explore challenging cases, ask questions, and deepen your understanding of complex situations in the field of diabetes and eating disorders. Led by Lauren Newman, RD, LD, CDCES, CEDS, a clinician with specialized expertise in diabetes, eating disorders, and GLP-1 medications, these sessions are designed to help you gain practical skills, discuss nuanced cases, and consult on real-world scenarios with peers.

Open to all healthcare providers, these groups welcome diverse clinical perspectives and encourage collaborative learning.

Format: Drop-in style, with no long-term commitment. Come when it fits your schedule and engage in thoughtful, collaborative discussions about complex clinical situations.

Diabetes & Eating Disorders – 3rd Thursday of the month (12-1pm ET)

These drop-in groups are designed to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the clinicians who attend. Each session offers space for case consultation, skills-building, Q&A, and nuanced discussion around these unique areas of practice. Here are some topics you can expect to chat about in these groups:

GLP-1s & Eating Disorders

  • Navigating the use of GLP-1 medications in clients with or at risk for eating disorders

  • Education and evidence based information about GLP-1s, including both benefits and risks

  • Ethical considerations and harm reduction strategies

  • Supporting clients with mixed feelings about GLP-1s

  • Support for clinicians navigating mixed feelings about GLP-1s

  • Exploring gray areas and nuanced case examples

  • Practical guidance for collaboration with medical providers and care teams

  • Any questions you have about GLP-1s, their use, and their implications in eating disorder care

Diabetes & Eating Disorders

  • Managing diabetes care without fueling disordered eating patterns

  • Identifying and preventing disordered habits in patients with all forms of diabetes (T1DM, T2DM, preDM, LADA, Gestational, etc…)

  • Supporting eating disorder recovery for people with diabetes

  • Discussion of diabetes medications and devices (insulin, GLP-1s, oral meds, pumps, CGMs, and more)

  • Case consultation on complex or high-risk scenarios

  • Refreshing knowledge of diabetes care and clinical considerations

  • Any questions you have about the overlap of diabetes and eating disorders

Both groups provide a weight-inclusive and eating disorder-informed environment where healthcare providers can bring real-world cases, ask questions, and learn together.
